Av-Comm is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the follow-on contract to supply field engineering, installation and commissioning services for the previously announced Pacific Aviation Investment Program’s (PAIP) Phase 3 contract. The follow-on contract will see Av-Comm’s field engineering teams install and commission two satellite ground stations at Honiara Airport and Munda Airport, Solomon Islands.

Av-Comm has been allocated two greenfield plots of land to construct the satellite ground stations at each airport with the works including civil foundation works, interfacility cabling, antenna construction, alignment and commissioning. The two antenna systems will connect the respective airports to the Airways New Zealand hub and facilitate a distribution of real-time air traffic control information and weather data.

PAIP is sponsored by the World Bank and seeks to improve aviation infrastructure, management, and operations to make air travel to and from the Pacific Islands safer and more efficient. By facilitating greater flight access and improved travel conditions, PAIP’s dual goals are to promote tourism and trade, and open access to jobs, markets and services overseas in the counties where the program is active. PAIP’s projects will boost regional integration through shared technology, systems and an effective air transport network.
